Happy 20th Birthday to JWD / JWN
by Simon inas sgt pepper sang, "it was 20 years ago today" ... that i made my first post on my first forum.. i obviously didn't put too much thought into what it should say although i must have burned 45 posts testing things and was too lazy to reset the counter before going live (?):.
https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/46/welcome.
but somehow, it worked and grew and here we all are, 20 years on.

The Evil Masterminds Behind COVID-19: Charmin and Cottonelle
by keyser soze inof all the things people decided they needed to stockpile for a potential quarantine.
all of the stores around my area ran completely out of toilet paper this last weekend.
people were piling it into their carts and vehicles as if they were going to be holed up for a year.

It's Christmas after Christmas for wholesalers and retailers. But the news is not broadcasting the jolly dollar intake the way they do in December.
Who else does the disaster benefit? I'm trying to follow the money.

Name one POSITIVE thing you took from your experience as a Witness
by geodude ini was thinking about this at work the other day, and realized the one positive thing i can truly credit the jws with: .
i have no fear of public speaking.
i was a shy kid, fat, clumsy, with crooked glasses and worse teeth, who wore hand-me-downs in one of the wealthiest counties in all of america, who sat still while classmates got up to salute the flag or recite the pledge of allegiance.

Learned that family has to be a priority over anything else.
How to deal with confrontations instead of avoiding them at all costs, and when to just say NO without offering any explanations.

Appalling start to the new year with this Cult!
by ZindagiNaMilegiDobaara inthe cult is so screwed up its appalling!first thing this morning and this shitty text is what i get for the start of the new year.
"the 20th century ended on 31st of december 2000 at 23:59:59 +1 second so technically, yes, the next decade according to that would begin next year.
but the twenties started to day.i hope these are the roaring twenties!

Not training speakers/teachers any more?
by eyeslice2 innot having attended any meetings since about 2001, for reasons of safety (sounds a bit dramatic but i don't like my wife being out on her own late at night where we live now), i have started accompanying her to the mid-week meeting.. when i was young, the ministry school and service meeting were central to training brothers to take the lead.
you were assigned instruction talks, then if you cut it, you moved pretty rapidly to public talks - a full 55 mins at the time.
i was just 18 years old when i gave my first public talk and this was a first step to moving rapidly through the ranks.

The sisters walk a fine line between getting in trouble for not answering enough, or at all, and getting in trouble for answering too much. There were tons of sisters that i remember, who would put their hand up once or twice in a meeting, to give one comment and then that was IT.

What Did You Do With All Your Meeting Clothes?
by minimus ini literally had dozens of suits.
i still have more dress clothes than anyone i know.
i did give some suits and clothing away and to be honest, i still like wearing a nice suit.. brothers and sisters, are all your “ meeting clothes” still in your closet?

I boxed up some of the clothes for my cousin to take to her church. They have a store where everything is free.
I had about ten nice purses, i sold on ebay.
Some got thrown out, like my denim skirts that everyone hated at the meeting. They were so old, they used to go to the meeting without me.
Whatever we used to wear to meetings is gone. I haven't worn a skirt or dress or hose, or any dress shoes since the last meeting I attended, which was the memorial. I think that was 2013. And Steve hasn't worn a tie since 2011. He quit the meetings before i did.
We kept one necktie to put on the skeleton every Halloween.

The Latest From The Loony Left
by Simon inso apparently, not only can people identify as men or women, regardless of reality, but they've now declared that people can identify as black or white as well!
no word yet from rachel dolezal, who will no doubt be declared a visionary, and sadly michael jackson didn't live long enough to celebrate.. i must say, now that i am a black woman, my views on reparations have completely changed.
y'all owe me some reparations bitches to make up for slavery yo.

What happens to Bethelites?
by rickroll inso if someone puts their life into serving the cult for free at bethel, then say after 25 or 30 years they are not able to for one reason or another such as illness, or family issue or old age, does the cult have any safety net for these people or is it you serve until you can't and when you can't you just go away?

Volunteers being promised they would have a home forever if they wanted to work at Bethel their entire life - kicked to the curb as old age arrives.
Technically known as a LIE.
